Ingredient FAQs adapted from Bergamonte, with practical answers about Livnova.
View the source FAQsHow is BPF different from a generic bergamot extract?
BPF describes a standardized ingredient platform with a characteristic flavanone profile. Generic extracts can differ in composition, so the botanical name alone does not establish equivalence.
Why did Livnova choose BPF 38%?
We chose a defined botanical ingredient with standardized flavanones and a published ingredient-research background. Our approved formulation uses the 38% ingredient grade.
Does ingredient research guarantee my results?
No. Research findings relate to the ingredient, complete formulation and participants studied. Livnova does not promise a particular result or a time by which you should see one.
What is Bergamot Polyphenolic Fraction?
BPF is a concentrated polyphenol fraction from Citrus bergamia. Its defined flavanone profile gives more information than the broad description “bergamot extract.”
Why does botanical identity matter?
Citrus species have different chemistry. Identifying Citrus bergamia helps connect an ingredient with research on that particular plant.
What does 38% refer to?
It measures the combined principal flavanones in the BPF ingredient. It does not mean 38% of the entire capsule is bergamot.
Are flavanones and total polyphenols the same?
No. Flavanones form one class within the broader polyphenol family. The percentages measure different aspects of the same extract and should not be added together.
Why are melitidin and brutieridin mentioned?
These characteristic bergamot compounds help describe the ingredient’s chemical identity. BPF is a multi-component fraction, so its science should not be reduced to two compounds.
Has the 38% ingredient been studied in humans?
Yes. Bergamonte identifies published human research using 38%-standardized BPF. Study formulations and amounts must be considered separately from Livnova’s finished capsules.
What is the Livnova capsule specification?
BPF 38% ingredient, 500 mg capsule strength, 60 capsules in a black bottle. See the final product label for the complete composition.
Does FSSAI approval mean clinical efficacy?
Livnova’s approved ingredient grade is BPF 38%. Regulatory approval and clinical research answer different questions; approval is not a guarantee of an individual health outcome.
Is this bergamot essential oil?
No. BPF is the polyphenolic extract ingredient used in this capsule formulation. It is not an aromatherapy oil.
Can it replace prescribed medication?
No. Do not stop or change prescribed treatment because of supplement information. Discuss supplement use with your healthcare professional, especially if you take regular medication.
